Baptism

Having your baby baptised is quite a simple process. Come to Mass any Sunday and after the service has finished see Fr Michael, Fr John or a member of Baptism Team, (Janice Banks and Annie Doherty), to introduce yourself.  You and your child's information will be recorded on a Baptism Record Card and in line with Bishop Arnold’s directives the procedures will be explained briefly to you.    This begins your child’s journey to the Sacrament of Baptism.  The process is
  • Attendance at Mass
  • Preparation Meeting
  • Welcome for child
  • Baptism Service
If you are from another parish the permission of your parish priest should be sought Points to note
  • Please do not arrange a date for your child’s baptism until you have been given a firm date which will be given at the Preparation Meeting
  • Godparents.    You only need one Godparent who must be a Baptised Catholic over the age of 16, but the maximum is two.
  • All information about the actual Baptism service, practical information  will be given to you at the Preparation Meeting  and there will be a question and answer session at the end
