Bidding prayers: 1st Sunday of Advent, 28th November 2021

CELEBRANT

As we begin this Advent season of expectation and hope, we pray that we will grow in our love for our heavenly Father and each other.

READER

As we begin the process of the Universal Synod called by Pope Francis, may we be open to the Holy Spirit, so that we may participate with heart and soul and mind, for the growth of the Kingdom and to the Glory of God. We pray; Come Lord Jesus come

We pray that leaders of all nations will prioritise the well being of the vulnerable and voiceless in their care. Help them to act with wisdom and compassion as they seek just solutions. We pray; Come Lord Jesus come

We pray for refugees and migrants who are escaping from violence, bloodshed and poverty. Grant eternal rest to those who have died in search of security and a new home. We especially remember the men, women and children who died whilst crossing the Channel this week. We pray; Come Lord Jesus come

As winter advances we remember the homeless on the streets of Manchester. We pray that charities working to improve their lives will receive the help and support they need to make positive changes to the vulnerable people in their care. May we be generous in our gifts and prayers. We pray; Come Lord Jesus come

Let us pause for a moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and intentions………… We pray; Come Lord Jesus come

We ask Mary our mother to watch over and guide us as we pray; Hail Mary……
