Bidding prayers: 2nd Sunday of Christmas, 3rd January 2021

CELEBRANT

We come before you with our love, prayers and hopes and ask that you walk with us through the days that lie ahead.

READER

Let us pray for Pope Francis and all church leaders at the start of this New Year, may they inspire us with the courage to make new beginnings and together come closer to God and spiritually closer to one another. Lord hear us

Let us pray for governments throughout the world, that they might work to make 2021 a year of peace and greater tolerance and understanding between all people, regardless of their nationality, culture, gender or economic status. Lord hear us

We pray for all those whose lives have been severely disrupted by the Coronavirus especially those who have lost their loved ones and livelihoods. May 2021 be a year in which everyone will re-evaluate and recognise what is truly of worth in their lives. Help us all to be mindful of the graces God has given us and use these gifts to support others. Lord hear us

Let us pray that security, joy and purpose will replace the uncertainty so many children and young people have faced during the disruption and challenges to their education over the past year. We remember especially students studying for examinations and those currently unemployed. Lord hear us

Let us pause for a moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and intentions…………. Lord hear us

We join our prayers with Mary our Mother and ask her for her constant help and protection as we pray: Hail Mary…………………………………………..

CELEBRANT

Loving Father be with us in all that we say, think and do in the coming year. Grant us hope and courage to face the challenges that lie ahead knowing that you are our strength, guide and protection. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
