The precious love of the Lord is freely given to us and is always available. This month of the Sacred Heart encourages us never to give up on anyone or even on ourselves. The Light of Christ may seem to have got dim or even gone out, but the Pilate light is always glowing even though we might recognise that ourselves. The Lord wants to draw each and every one of us to himself and cannot help himself from showing mercy as that is His divine instinct. The trouble with us is that we set mediocre targets, which either we or others cannot come anywhere near achieving. The Sacred Heart on the other hand only needs to hear the slightest bleat from his sheep before he sets off to find it, no questions asked. So at the heart of this great devotion is hope, and this grace is needed more than ever in the times we are living through. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my trust in you.
