Day One hundred & twelve: Friday 10th July 2020

After yesterday the wind is now whistling round my ears and the words of the old spiritual come to mind “Free at last.” Looking forward to something and then achieving it gives you a wonderful feeling. I think that is how we will react to so many things that we used to take for granted coming back into play, such as shopping, going for a drink or a meal, visiting relatives, travelling on a bus or tram, planning a holiday, attending Mass and receiving the Sacraments. These are all everyday things yet suddenly they have become something special, something to look forward to. I wonder when all this time is over will we regroup, revalue and begin to enjoy what we have rather than envying what others have got? Will we reprioritise just what is important in our lives, what drives us, what makes us better people? Will we really find more time for others, for ourselves, for God?
