Day Two hundred and two: Thursday 8th October 2020

I have just come back from my first visit to Tesco’s in six months and have left my dark room to write this. I couldn’t believe how traumatic it was going to be; I am usually a confident person, but found myself asking a Parishioner after Mass today what do you do when you go to Tesco’s? I decided to go to Tesco’s at the Clock as it slightly smaller than Burnage and tends not to be as busy. Keeping the mask on was difficult, glasses steaming up and not enough air getting to the old lungs and having to stop and start and encounter one of two grumpy eccentrics on the trawl round didn’t help the anxiety. Eventually done I sat in the car for a good five minutes recovery period before setting off back home determined that like learning to ride a bike, I’ll have another go in the near future. It strikes me how many other people far more vulnerable and fragile than me are out there and may need us to be a good neighbour to them?
