Bidding Prayers: 1st Sunday of Advent, 3rd December 2023

CELEBRANT

As we begin this Advent season of expectation and hope, we pray that we will grow in our love for our heavenly Father and each other.

READER

We pray for our local Christian communities that we may be united in our commitment to the values of the Gospel and encourage one another in faith. May we be a beacon of hope and light providing spiritual healing for all those who seek our help. We pray, come Lord Jesus come

We remember the peace makers throughout the world who struggle to fight the challenges of war and discord throughout the world. May the “Still small voice of calm” touch the hearts of those who inspire and sustain conflict rather than compassion. We pray especially for the civilian families caught up in fighting and bloodshed that they may have courage and never give up hope. We pray, come Lord Jesus come

We pray for all those involved in the climate conference in Dubai. May they work together to find practical and workable solutions to the threat of climate change so that everyone may appreciate and protect God’s creation. We pray, come Lord Jesus come

As winter takes its hold we remember the homeless on the streets of Manchester. We pray that charities working to improve their lives will receive the help and support they need to make positive changes to the vulnerable people in their care. May we be generous in our gifts and prayers. We pray, Come Lord Jesus come

Let us pause for moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and those presented today in our Parish Book of Intentions…… We pray, Come Lord Jesus come

We ask Mary, woman who waited to pray with us: Hail Mary………….
