Bidding Prayers: 2nd Sunday of Lent, 5th March 2023

CELEBRANT

Loving Lord, you are truly our light and our salvation. Help us to make sense of the world and live by the values you have taught us. May we show compassion and love to those in need. We come before you with open hearts always trusting and loving you.

READER

We pray for our Holy Father Pope Francis and all religious leaders, that they will inspire and cultivate hope and courage in people who are afraid and uncertain about the future. Lord in your mercy

We pray that all governments will come together in peace and genuine dialogue to serve the interests and well -being of the people they are called to serve. May solutions be found through negotiation and not warfare and bloodshed. Lord in your mercy

We pray for CAFOD and all their field workers who strive to improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable communities across the world. May efforts to support better management of farming land in famine areas, create stronger foundations for those dependent upon successful harvests. Help them to overcome the many challenges they face and may we be generous in our donations and prayers. Lord in your mercy

May our loved ones, friends and neighbours experience God’s protection. We pray for those who are sick in mind and body, those experiencing loss and loneliness. May they find strength in our support and know they are remembered in our prayers. Lord in your mercy

Let us pause for a moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and those presented today in our parish book of intentions………………. Lord in your mercy

We ask our mother to bless and protect us as we pray; Hail Mary…

CELEBRANT

Heavenly Father, grant us courage to follow your son on the path to the cross and thus be raised with him to the glory of the resurrection, through Christ our Lord. Amen
