Bidding Prayers: 5th Sunday of Lent, 26th March 2023

CELEBRANT

Lord of life and hope, today’s Gospel tells us of sorrow that turns to joy, of death that leads to life. We remember the pain Martha and Mary experienced and the happiness when Lazarus was returned to them.

READER

We pray for our Church leaders and Christians in public life, may their witness always be one of compassion and reconciliation. Help them through the power of your spirit to inspire others to have the confidence in God’s love and concern for us. Lord in your mercy

As we continue our prayers for peace in the Ukraine and an end to bloodshed and violence, we remember the people of Syria, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan and all other places of conflict and suffering. May peace be brought to our troubled world. Lord in your mercy

We remember those experiencing the pain of bereavement. May they find comfort in the healing presence of God our Father. In their grief Martha and Mary experienced the compassion and love of friends and family. May we also know the strength of love and support from those close to us. Lord in your mercy

We pray for those who are suffering with mental health issues and feel isolated and lonely. Help us to reach out to those we know are in need of help and offer hope and understanding as they seek the professional help they need. Lord in your mercy

Let us pause for a moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and those presented today in our Parish Book of Intentions …………………… Lord in your mercy

We ask Mary our mother to watch over and guide us as we pray; Hail Mary……
