Bidding Prayers: The Baptism of the Lord, 8th January 2023

CELEBRANT

As God’s children born of water and the Spirit, let us bring our prayers to the Lord confident that his love will bring healing and reconciliation among all people.

READER

We pray for Pope Benedict, a role model for holiness and the desire to help all of us discover the joy of knowing hope and love through our belief in Christ. May his faith inspire us to strengthen our relationship with God. Lord hear us

As the war in Ukraine continues, we pray especially for those who have been forced to leave their homeland in search of safety. May they find kindness and support to take them forward in their lives. Help peacemakers to never cease negotiation to find solutions that will end the loss of life. Lord hear us

We pray for families and individuals who have struggled throughout 2022. May the New Year bring them hope for better, brighter days ahead and fresh opportunities to help them flourish. Lord hear us

We pray for ourselves that we will respond to God’s invitation to deepen our faith and live out the promises we made in baptism. May those entering a period of change and uncertainty face the challenges ahead with positivity, optimism and faith. Lord hear us

Let us pause for a moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and those presented today in our Parish Book of Intentions……………… Lord hear us

We ask Mary our mother to watch over, guide and protect us as we pray; Hail Mary…………………………

CELEBRANT

Heavenly Father, as we celebrate the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit, we pray that we will be inspired to live a life that proclaims the Gospels. We make all our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen
