Bidding Prayers: Feast of the Transfiguration, 6th August 2023

CELEBRANT

Almighty God, your Son Jesus, revealed his true identity to the apostles Peter, James and John as he prepared them for his impending passion. Help us to visualise you in our everyday lives and always be our brightest light and inspiration. We ask you to hear the prayers we place before you.

READER

We pray for all those who nurture the faith of all believers, especially Pope Francis as this weekend he meets with the young members of the Church at World Youth Day. Grant him the strength and courage to proclaim the Gospel values of peace and love to all our people. Lord hear us

We pray for farming communities throughout the world that are experiencing difficulties with harvesting crops. Help them to sustain their livelihoods and futures as they battle against the effects of climate change. Lord hear us

We pray for families who are experiencing difficulty with household expenses and struggle to feed their children at this time. May they receive the support and help they require to live happily and healthily. Lord hear us

We pray today in remembrance of the dropping of the first nuclear bombs at the end of the Second World War and remember the terrible death and destruction they caused. May our leaders continue to work for peace in the world and an end to all nuclear weapons. Lord hear us

Let us pause for a moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and those presented today in our Parish Book of Intentions…………… Lord hear us

We ask Mary our mother and constant guide to support and protect us as we pray; Hail Mary……………….
