Bidding Prayers: Remembrance Sunday, 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, 12th November 2023

CELEBRANT

On this Remembrance Sunday when our thoughts particularly focus on all those who died as a result of modern warfare, we pray together, knowing that God alone can bring peace and heal the wounds of battle.

READER

We pray for our Holy Father Pope Francis and all church leaders that they may be instruments of peace and reconciliation. May they inspire courageous peacemakers to redouble their efforts in our troubled world. Lord in your mercy

We pray for all those who serve in the armed forces and emergency services and their families. May they find the courage, sensitivity, support and strength they need in the challenges they face on our behalf. Lord in your mercy

Let us remember our relatives and friends who laid down their lives for the many so that others might live in peace and security, grant them eternal rest and healing for those who mourn their loss. We pray that their sacrifice will always inspire us to work for peace. Lord in your mercy

May we learn to place our trust in God especially at times of distress and crisis. Help us through this to recognise the practical support we can offer to those living in poverty in our community and the wider world. Lord in your mercy

We pray for Luke that he may be blessed in his future ministry. May he be inspired by the Holy Spirit to grow in his spiritual knowledge and understanding. Nurtured by the love of God and supported by his parish community, loved ones and friends. Lord in your mercy

Let us pause for a moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and those presented today in our Parish Book of intentions……………………….. Lord in your mercy

In this month dedicated to the Holy Souls we ask Mary our mother Queen of peace to join our prayers for peace and reconciliation especially in the Holy Land; Hail Mary……………………
