Day One hundred & nineteen: Friday 17th July 2020

Continuing with pastoral outreach let me turn to Funerals. One of the hardest things to bare during the lockdown is the death of loved ones and not being able to say farewell to them as we would have wanted to. May I commend the families to you who have had to go through this sad process. We can now arrange funerals in Church, with a choice of Requiem or Service and then on to the graveside or the crematorium. Social distancing is at the heart of this provision, so to a certain extent they are private family funerals with no more than thirty people being allowed, so should you find yourself in the sad position of having to plan a funeral, please let the undertaker know, what is possible at St Bernard’s. As promised there will be a special occasion for all the families who have lost a loved one during the lockdown as soon as we are able to arrange one. In the mean time should you want to arrange a Requiem Mass for your loved one who has already had a funeral please let us know and we will be happy to arrange this with you: of course social distancing rules will have to apply. I hope this helps, please be assured of constant remembrances in Mass and in our prayers.
