Day One hundred & twenty seven: Saturday 25th July 2020

Fr Peter Sheahan has died and thus comes the end of an incredible story of dedication, loyalty, service and faith. From the outset of the Diocese there has always been a Sheahan serving as a priest, all from the same family, uncles, brothers and cousins: isn’t that something incredible that one family should provide so many priests from the West of Ireland for Salford. Thanks be to God! Now which is the next family to do the same, I suspect we will never see the like again. This gives us more reason to pray for vocations to the priesthood especially as many of us are getting older and others carrying ill health. The good news is that we have two students beginning the journey this year and they are Carmine Rea and Mark McGeehan, please keep them in your prayers. Sadly we also lost Fr Bernard McGarry this week may he and Fr Peter see the face of God.
