Day Seventy four: Tuesday 2nd June 2020

As we hopefully look towards the end of Lockdown and the reopening of Churches for private prayer, leading we hope for Mass soon after, it is important to begin to think what we will be like as the people of God here in Burnage? It is my hope that we may have become more prayerful, perhaps even rediscovering devotional life, and broadening our minds with reading. From my brief encounters with people it seems that many have missed being together or just seeing each other, perhaps recognising that each and every one of us is a living stone in the Church with Christ the Cornerstone that holds us all together. I came across this quote from C. S. Lewis and thought I would share it with you to think about:” There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal…….Next to the Blessed Sacrament itself, your neighbour is the holiest thing presented to your senses. If he is your Christian neighbour, he is holy in almost the same way; for in him also Christ truly hides, the glorifier and the glorified, Glory Himself is truly hidden.”
