Day Seventy five: Wednesday 3rd June 2020

While the unending battle against the Corona Virus goes on, we are also witnessing the ongoing battle against the racism virus, which has been around a lot longer. Whenever members of our society feel left out or even abandoned no matter who they are they should find in us good friends. We should not forget that as Catholics for centuries we were pariahs in our own country and the need for fairness and justice should be part of our way of life. In a Tweet today Pope Francis said this “We cannot tolerate or turn a blind eye to racism and exclusion in any form. At the same time, we have to recognize that violence is self-destructive and self-defeating. Nothing is gained by violence and so much is lost. Let us pray for reconciliation and peace.”  All I can say is Amen to that.
