Day Seventy one: Saturday 30th May 2020

I can’t believe that this is the 27th page of this blog; when I sat down to write it I thought it would be for a few weeks only and now we’re in the 11th week. I am very grateful for the positive comments that I have received but in truth, I needed something to do to stop me going bonkers! I suppose in a way it must have been something like this for the Apostles after Good Friday and the Resurrection when they couldn’t make head nor tails of it they needed to do something and went back to fishing. After the Ascension they all began to gather in the Upper Room, where they first learned about serving one another, where Jesus shared the Eucharist for the first time in remembrance of him, yes and where Judas left to betray him. I wonder in the lockdown are there things you have gone back to apart from snacking?  Are you using the time to say some of the prayers you are usually too busy to say? Have you read that book that’s been waiting to be opened? Have you made those phone calls you’ve been meaning to make? In the end when the Holy Spirit came to them to the Apostles they realised that life would never be the same again. When this lock down is over we will never have the opportunity again because we will not get the time to do what we are able to do at the moment. It’s the reason why we need the Holy Spirit this Pentecost more than ever so that not only will the face of the World be renewed but We will be too.
