Day Seventy two: Pentecost Sunday 31st May 2020

What a wonderful day, bright, sunny and very hot, it could not have been a better day to celebrate Pentecost. It was a special day for us here at St Bernard’s because it was the actual birthday of the Parish as well as the whole Church. Thoughts stretched to think about all those who had shared our First Church, then our present Church and how the seed planted all those years ago is still bearing fruit today. The Spirit that was instilled in the “Originals,” is very much alive in our present Family members, and the challenge is the same for us, and that is to go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News. We should not be down hearted if success in growth is slow in coming, but work all the harder to water the garden of faith. Just think, the few in the Upper Room on that first Pentecost could have been overwhelmed with fear and anxiety, but the Spirit gave them all they needed, and they conquered the World. Holy Spirit renew us for the journey ahead.
