Day Twenty one: Good Friday 10th April 2020

Watching the Stations of the Cross from Rome tonight, this year not at the usual Coliseum but from St Peter’s, there was something beautiful about the sense of emptiness in the Square. It was almost like the Lord was going to walk through my living room on the way to the Crucifixion, and surely that is how it should be. The journey of the Cross is not something abstract but something that we carry with us each day: the redeeming love of the Lord never leaves us, even when we sneak away from the journey for a while and get lost, the Good Shepherd is on the lookout for us and incredibly carrying our cross for us until we return.
