Bidding Prayers: 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Feast Day of St. Bernard, 20th August 2023

CELEBRANT

With trust in the presence of God’s Holy Spirit in the world and in our lives, we turn to the Lord in prayer.

READER

We thank you Heavenly Father that you blessed your Church with St Bernard, a man full of zeal, radiating brightness and total commitment to the love of God. Through his intercession, grant that we may by the same spirit of devotion and trust always walk as children of light Confident in the eternal love of God. Lord in your mercy

We pray for those living in situations of conflict and instability throughout the world. We remember especially the children whose lives are endangered by warfare. May their futures be secured and supported so that they may live in peace. Lord in your mercy

We remember all young people who are receiving examination results at this time. We give thanks for those who are able to move forward to the next stage of their education or training and we bring to the Lord those who are disappointed with their results and uncertain about their future. We pray that they will be supported in finding a pathway to success. Lord in your mercy

We pray for a renewal of our love for the Eucharist, that through our sharing of the bread and wine of Holy Communion we will be enabled to take God’s love to our family, friends and members of our community. Lord in your mercy

Let us pause for a moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and those presented today in our Parish Book of Intentions……………. Lord in your mercy

St Bernard devoted much of his life to the study and worship of Mary our mother and promoted the Memorare prayer. Let us turn now to our Blessed Lady in prayer as we say; Hail Mary……………
