Day Eighty eight: Tuesday 16th June 2020

If you ever go through Droitwich don’t forget to call into The Sacred Heart Church, which will be on the right hand side as you head towards  Worcester. The Church has the most wonderful mosaics which will knock you out, that tell the story of St Richard of Chichester one of our great English saints. He was born in Droitwich in 1197 and was an extraordinary beautiful, kind, merciful and committed person in a time when these virtues were not readily seen or practiced. He is most famous for his prayer which I commend to you:

“Thanks be to thee, my Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits thou hast given me, for all the pains and insults thou hast borne for me. O most merciful redeemer, friend and brother, may I know thee more clearly, love thee more dearly, and follow thee more nearly, day by day. Amen.”
