Are you ready to receive God’s mercy or would you rather put it off for the moment? Perhaps like St Augustine we may say “Lord let me resist temptation, but not yet”. Or perhaps you may feel disappointed because someone you know has had a change of heart and turned their lives round; it seems a shame and unfair that they have not had to suffer. Or perhaps your are looking for justice as is your right but really you are looking for revenge. Or perhaps you are a compassionate person but not to them? Last week’s Sunday Gospel talked about forgiving someone 70 times seven; this week’s Gospel speaks about God’s incredible mercy and compassion. Here’s a thought when the time comes for judgment what do you want, Justice or Mercy?
