Bonfires and fireworks tonight why? Because of Guy Fawkes and his team tried to blow up King James I and parliament, because they gave back word to allow Catholic practice, and remove recusant fines on the faithful. Guy was frustrated and could take no more, many counselled against it but he and his team were headstrong and once the plot was uncovered they were hunted down, either killed in the skirmish that followed or were captured and executed. One of the knock on effects were many innocent Lay people and priests were caught up in what followed and were martyred.
