Bidding prayers: First Sunday of Lent, 21st February 2021

CELEBRANT

As we begin our Lenten journey we turn to God in prayer for support and protection.

READER

We pray for the Church. May our practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving lead us to a greater awareness of God’s presence in our lives and the needs of others in our community. Lord in your mercy

We remember those in the world with little access to clean water supplies. We pray especially for CAFOD field workers who seek to improve the quality, safety and access of water to isolated communities. May we be generous in our response to the Lenten appeal. Lord in your mercy

We pray for those whose hearts are full of violence and hatred: may the grace of the merciful Father turn their minds to the way of friendship and love, we remember especially young victims of knife crimes and their bereaved families. Lord in your mercy

We pray that we may continue to observe our Lenten resolutions and be led by the Holy Spirit to a deeper and more meaningful faith life. Lord in your mercy

Let us pause for a moment in silence as we bring to the Lord our personal prayers and intentions….. Lord in your mercy

We ask Mary our mother to watch over and guide us as we pray; Hail Mary…………………………..

CELEBRANT

Heavenly Father, who sent your son Jesus Christ to bring your message of salvation to the world, we offer these prayers in his name, who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen
